The
Lodge is named after the Roman Deity of the Woodlands and by association, one of
the Gods of the Hunting field. Officers of Vespasian’s II Legion Augusta, who’s
HQ was originally in Exeter, formed their own ‘lodge’ known as the Collegiorum
Silvanianorum.
Membership of 9741 is open to those Brethren who are involved in or supportive
of Hunting, Shooting and Fishing, or just falling off of Horses. The lodge is a
Dining Lodge and is overtly supportive of British farming. Travelling peripatetically
throughout the Western Provinces, we invite Masters
of Lodges of Agriculture to attend our meetings as guests. We specifically dine
in style on British game and other produce, usually from West Country farms.
The Lodge meets at 11.00am on the 2nd Saturday in the summer months of May, July
& September. The first two meet in rotation (and by Dispensation) in
Gloucestershire, Wiltshire or Devon. A Lecture is received in May, a visit is
made with the Ladies in July and the Installation is held in the Mother Temple
at Yatton in September. In the winter months of November, January and March,
lunch parties are held to which Ladies and non-Masonic guests are invited.
