Programmes

The following opportunities are held at various times in the year.

Mentor Scheme Seminar
Each Lodge is expected to appoint a Lodge Mentor, an experienced member who will appoint Personal Mentors to look after the development of new recruits and other members who may need support. Once or twice a year a seminar is held to support new and existing Lodge Mentors.

Preparing for the Masters’ Chair Seminar

The prospect of becoming Master of the Lodge can generate a range of questions and concerns. The annual workshop for aspiring members has proven to be most helpful in clarifying the role, alleviating anxiety and boosting confidence and enthusiasm. Attendance is open to any Lodge Officer who aims to progress to the Chair.

Orations

All Lodges are encouraged to include an Oration in their annual programme. This is an opportunity to consider an aspect of our ritual in a little more detail and to reflect on its meaning to us as individual masons. Frank Clarke, Provincial Orator, will be pleased to provide further details.Orator@pglsomerset.org.uk

Alternative Programme options

The occasions when Lodges do not have a ceremony provides an opportunity to extend knowledge of freemasonry. Lodge Secretaries have a list of alternative programmes and speakers that Lodges are recommended to consider on such occasions.

Seminars on other topics

Suggestions of topics are always welcomed and should be forwarded through the Lodge Mentor to the Provincial Education Officer. Seminars for Lodge Officers are held from time to time during the course of each year.
