Local Support
Charity is at the heart of Freemasonry and high priority is given to supporting local charities and projects
within the
community. Individual Lodges as well as the Somerset
Masonic Charity make grants to a wide range of worthy causes which, in a typical year, aggregate to over £120,000.
We have adopted the
Childrens' Hospice at Wraxall as a major project and have raised funds to
equip 6 family visitors' rooms. In addition, the Masonic Lifelites Charity has provided
£40,000 of extensive IT and computer equipment and links for the children and
families use. A volunteer group of Somerset freemasons provides regular
practical support and advice to the staff and residents to help them make best
use of the Lifelites IT systems and also maintains and improves the software.
