On
September 22nd, a glorious day for playing golf, 26 intrepid
golfers from all over the Province, turned up at Taunton & Pickeridge
Golf Club, which was in immaculate condition, to compete for the P.G.M’s
Golf Trophy. A surprise for the competitors was the appearance of our
Provincial Grand Master, who had found time in his busy schedule to come
to the Club, to wish everyone the best of luck in their endeavours to
win his trophy. This was appreciated by all players.
After a “bacon bap and a pint” play commenced at 13.15 hrs and for the
next four hours competition was keen and some commendable scores were
recorded.
After a very satisfying meal the prizes were presented by our A. P.G.M
John Winston. First prize went to W.Bro Richard Stone of Corinthian
Pillar Lodge, Yeovil with 41 points, who won the P.G.M’s trophy and a
cut glass Ships Decanter. Second was W.Bro Steve Williams of Admiral
Blake Lodge, Bridgwater with 39 points, who won 6 cut glass Wine Glasses
and third was W. Bro David Flack of Tynte Lodge, Bridgwater with 36
points, who won two cut-glass Brandy glasses. Grateful thanks are
extended to W. Bro David Flack for sponsoring the prizes.
A
very satisfactory conclusion to an excellent day of golf and friendship.
Next
year’s competition will take place again in September, dates and
information to be announced in the Lodges and on our Website and Compass
Magazine, when finalised. The competition is open to all Somerset
Masons.
